Our current status of history, science and faith has its origins in the 18th century.
The American, French, and Industrial Revolutions were three significant historical turning points in the 18th century.
Prior to the 18th century, when European superpowers (the UK, Spain, France, Holland, and Portugal) made colonialism a worldwide practice. They have influenced culture all around the world. However, technology remained unchanged from thousands of years ago until the Middle Ages. The deterioration of the Greek and Roman empires and the founding of monotheistic religions span over two millennia, which ends in the 18th century.
A scientific and technology revolution was first started by the English physicist and mathematician Isaak Newton [1], who laid forth the fundamental concepts of science that are still used widely today. Numerous scientists followed Isaac Newton. It's vital to note that Isaac Newton expressed his thankfulness to God for his discoveries. One of his most well-known quotes, for instance, was: "Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but it cannot explain who set the planets in motion” [2]. God is in control of everything and is aware of everything that is possible. The incredible scientific advancements that began in the 19th century led to the current scientific and technology revolution.
A new period of enlightenment occurred together with the scientific awakening. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam underwent transformations throughout the 19th century's Age of Enlightenment. A individual would constantly align with the beliefs and requirements of the religions up until the 18th century. Since the 18th century, there have been numerous populations that may be categorized as belonging to a certain religion but no longer practice it or do so only occasionally.
Along with the scientific awakening, a new era of enlightenment emerged. The Age of Enlightenment in the 19th century saw changes in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Up until the eighteenth century, a person would always conform to the teachings and demands of the religions. There have been several populations since the 18th century that could be considered to belong to a certain religion yet no longer or only sometimes practice it. [3]
Despite the ever-increasing threats from misinterpretation of science, humanity has never abandoned the basics of faith - love, acceptance, responsibility and spiritual growth.
As we navigate the complexities of the present and look ahead to an uncertain future, it becomes evident that faith, in its various forms, continues to be a source of strength, resilience, and hope. It is a reminder that, regardless of the rapid advancements and shifting landscapes, the core principles of faith remain an essential foundation for our collective journey into the unknown. In a world marked by change, it is the unchanging values of faith that provide us with a sense of purpose and a path forward.
