The following takes a fresh look at how time and infinity are entwined in the world around us, making us a time-bounded creature in a timeless universe
Let us ask ourselves:
· What is time?
· What is light?
Both are basic elements of our daily life.
Examine your wristwatch or smartphone in order look and see what time it is; light allows us to read the time on our wristwatch or smartphone.
Time is straightforward to explain. For us, a lifetime, a generation, a year, a day, an hour, and a minute are all concepts that are readily explained.
We might also consider a more complicated concept of time known as a "light year." A light year is defined as the distance traveled by light or light particles (photons) in one year (9 trillion km).
How about the light? All around us, we use, observe, look, and see light.
Light, or the components that make it up, are, on the other hand, timeless physical particles (or waves). According to Einstein, when traveling at the speed of light, time effectively stops. [1,6].
Practically, there is no time measured for a particle or an object traveling at the speed of light, and the age of the universe (estimated as 13.8 billion years [6]) can be compared to a blink of an eye for this object traveling at the speed of light.
In the Bible there are a few outstanding time related steps in creation the first [2] and the fourth days [3]. Specifically, the fourth day of creation.
Genesis 1:14 (fourth day)- And God said: Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; [3]
On the fourth day, light and light sources are combined with time in a single statement. On the fourth day, time and light are linked and interconnected in one clause.
The Bible is making the connection between time and light, thousands of years before Einstein puts it into a formula.
The universe as we know it now began on the fourth day of creation, when time and infinity coexisted for the first time.
We are taught, and must consider, that the creator of the cosmos is both temporal and eternal.
Understanding that God is always with us, everywhere, is one of the most difficult notions to grasp.
If we draw a basic connection between the realms of faith and science, we can sense God's presence all around us. All we have to do is assume that the light particles that surround us are truly timeless.
This also makes the simple premise that God existed before us and will continue to exist after the cosmos ends more plausible. [4, 5]
